The race to dominate the “space” flight trade has started for years. The major competitors in this race are SpaceX, Blue Origin, and Virgin Galactic; the commercialization open to the public of this type of flight is getting closer and closer, and companies begin to highlight the main characteristics of their service, on the one hand, Virgin Galactic welcomes its stage in what Richard Branson (owner of the Virgin business group) calls “new space age” and on the other Blue Origin makes a comparison between what your service will be and that of Virgin Galactic.

The result of the first flight

Virgin Galactic successfully completed its first flight on July 11, 2021, using the VSS Unity aircraft. Richard Branson, the founder of the Virgin business group, traveled in this first launch that happened 10 days before that of the Blue Origin company of Jeff Bezos. The purpose of the flight was to assess the customer experience, which Virgin’s service hopes to deliver in the coming months.

With no apparent mishap, this manned flight reached an altitude of 85,000 meters above sea level at a speed of Mach 3; the Virgin Galactic team was more than pleased with the result, Michael Colglazier, CEO of Virgin Galactic, commented: “Today is a historic achievement for the company and a historic moment for the new commercial space industry. With each successful mission, we are paving the way for the next generation of astronauts. I want to thank our talented team, including our pilots and crew, whose dedication and commitment made this day possible. They are helping to open the door for greater access to space, so it can be for the many and not just a few.”

A dream come true

In the same way, the founder of SpaceX comments: Richard Branson also had a dream as a child which he expressed as follows: “I was once a child with a dream looking up at the stars, and now, I am an adult in a spaceship looking back at our beautiful Earth. “

The difference between Virgin Galactic and the Blue Origin Service

Given the achievement of Virgin Galactic, Blue Origin has shared the virtues that its service has over that of Richard Branson’s company, among which stand out on an official Twitter: The Blue Origin service will carry flights above the limit of our atmosphere with outer space, unlike Virgin Galactic which will stay 20 Kilometers below that limit. Another of the virtues pointed out is that the Blue Origin aircraft will have the largest windows that an aircraft has to visualize the landscape (107 cm * 71 cm), while Virgin Galactic offers the typical windows of a commercial flight; in addition, they added the point of environmental responsibility because Blue Origin promises a minimum impact on the environment in the operation of its aircraft, in this regard, it comments that its competitor Virgin Galactic pollutes 100 times more with the hybrid engines that it will use. Jeff Bezos’ company also noted that his aircraft’s security system has a security system that includes an emergency escape mechanism, which Virgin Galactic lacks.

What do you think of this topic? In your opinion, which service will be superior in the coming years?
