Aerophobia is the fear of flying or getting on a plane, this can affect one in ten people; although fear is not only believing that they may die from an accident inside the plane, this fear can be a set of phobias or just one that has nothing to do with the plane, such as claustrophobia.
Sometimes this disease can be caused by an accident, a complex flight that generated fear of flying in the person but, however, they can also appear for no apparent reason because they have never flown or simply because they have heard much news that makes them believe that flying can be dangerous.

Typically, 18% of passengers confess that they have a certain level of anxiety or fear long before boarding the plane; this can start from the moment it is known that they are going to fly or as boarding time approaches and the symptoms that this person presents worsen; there are people who at the time of boarding lose their strength or simply cannot move.
Several ways of the phobia
That is why this phobia can present itself in several ways: firstly mentally, either having thoughts about a possible fall from the plane, being aware of each noise, it can also happen that it has other phobias such as claustrophobia and thinks that it is trapped on the plane, it can also be presented in the way the person behaves, always asking if there is no problem or trying to avoid in any way getting on the plane and finally, it can also present itself in physiological ways because it can change their heart rate, generate digestive problems, nausea, hyperventilation among others.
How can this phobia be solved?
First, we must find out what type of phobia we have because it may not be exactly aerophobia, so we can treat it effectively; education is essential to cure any type of fear, this is because the human being is a being of habit and if he has never flown, he must gradually introduce the person so that he can eliminate the fears.
Nor should you look for bad information about accidents or problems with aircraft, because nowadays it is safer to fly than to drive a car. Sometimes we can also travel accompanied by a trusted person who can help us to overcome the fear; we always recommend going to a psychologist who will be able to find the basis of your fears and can efficiently eliminate this type of fear.
