We present an extract from the interview with Engineer Aldo Raggio, Director of the Advisory Association for Operational Security (ACSO), this interview was conducted by the CEO of BCDA Aeronautical Solutions, Angel Lovera Romero.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?, about your background?, I understand that you were in the Air Force, let’s talk a little about your studies, I understand that you are an aeronautical engineer

Okay, well my name is Aldo Raggio Guerra, yes, I was in the Peruvian Air Force specializing in aeronautical engineering, where I participated in an exchange programme for a career in aeronautical mechanical engineering in the Argentine Air Force, from a cadet in order to also meet other mutual institutional objectives with two more Peruvian colleagues, and then the other objective was really fulfilled, which was to form ties of friendship for possible projects of both air forces in the future. Later, when I returned to Peru after six and a half years, I specialized in weapons systems engineering, in addition to aeronautical mechanical engineering.

I was in charge of the maintenance squadrons I was commander of the Mi-25 helicopter maintenance squadron several years ago, that was in the second half of the ’80s and later I retired from the Peruvian Air Force, returned to Argentina where I was 15 years; working in the automotive industry and where I specialized in everything that was “management systems” under different international models, ISO standards, automotive standards, and then also coupled it to the aeronautical part, which is my natural, basic profession. Here in Peru, some years ago with some enthusiasts, we formed the Operational Safety Advisory Association, with the purpose of promoting safety within the commercial aviation industry; which can also be applied in state aviation and military aviation as well, but basically, we’re on the private side of the business side.

How does the association work? I was reading and I see that there are several members, that they belong to different organizations and companies. Do you meet every so often?

Yeah, that’s right; Well, we formed the association and we are duly constituted and registered in public records, as an association, and we have a board of directors, our purpose is to promote personal safety and make the aeronautical activity not only think about the part of economic benefits, but also be done safely, because it is fully compatible, and we are dedicated to developing activities before this crisis due to the Covid 19 pandemic, we did activities in different organizations and educational institutions as well; in universities and promoting through talks, exhibitions on topics of interest; after the Covid, we began to hold webinars (online video conferences) on topics that are of interest to everyone, which topics are of interest and we do not only do events within the national scope but also abroad, because of the relationships we have looked for exhibitors with experience in the topic that we have requested.
