Today, the memories of those people who managed to see the aircraft almost up close in airports have been lost. In the old airports, there were waiting or eating places near the boarding places for people accompanying the passenger to look for him or goodbye him, but this passenger transport has suffered innumerable attacks, of which one of the best known now is the attack of September 11, 2001, so we will tell you why the security controls have been changed over time.
There have been many attacks on aviation, this is due to the large number of people who can fly, which can be of many nationalities, so a precedent has been created for attackers to believe that they must demand more or simply give more bearable messages to people.
Explosive ordnance attacks
Because in airport areas or on planes numerous people can be affected, these types of facilities have been the target of unscrupulous people ever since they were created, where for the death of others they give their opinion, so this has been the main factor why people are no longer allowed to approach areas near the planes.
Measures were adopted such as X-rays, trained dogs, surveillance personnel, until today cameras that make your stay in these facilities more secure than before, preventing more than once violent actions within these transit sites. The first bombing attack was on October 10, 1933, to United Airlines, and one of the last was on June 12, 2016, at the Shanghai airport.
Aircraft hijacking
Aircraft hijacking is the takeover of the aircraft for specific purposes, most passengers are used as hostages to make a profit or make a movement grow, this happened a lot between the 1960s and 1980s where there were not so many systems security to detect potential hijackers.
For the year of 2001, exactly for September 11, all this changed, because the hijackers put aside the requests to use the planes as weapons where they would gain control of the aircraft and crash them against a ground target; that is why since this date the controls have been made much more rigorous in all aviation.
Weapon attacks
Worldwide, they have wanted to carry out terrorist attacks in all the crowded places, being the airports a very frequented site, the last attack was on January 6, 2017, at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood airport where a shooting was recorded where several people were injured or dead.
Thanks to all this, the ways of accessing the airport or staying within the facilities have started to change, which is why the main changes were to prevent access by anyone near the planes, and also to place a space between them called the sterile area because when you go to that area you must check luggage, clothing and everything that is introduced there. This helps to prevent the possibility of attacking or kidnapping anyone inside an aircraft or airport.
Armored doors are also placed in aircraft cabins as a precautionary measure, preventing access to anyone outside the passenger cabin and thus preventing using the aircraft as a weapon. Many more controls were also created and the number of security personnel increased.
